I am having problems compiling 2.4.0-test2-ac1 on my SMP box.
I have tried 2.4.0-test2 vanilla and had problems with kernel
panics due to bad "super block on /dev/hda1, my / file system.
File system was and is OK when I reboot with 2.2.17-pre7-ide.
So I applied Alan Cox's ac1 patch and I find make bzImage fails
if I configure devfs in the kernel
with an error in devfs_register_series, passing arg 7 (and arg 8)
'devfs_register' makes pointer from integer without a cast. These
errors result in 1. [util.o] error 1 and, 2. [first_rule] error
2, and lastly 3. [_subdir_devfs] error2.
My system is RedHat 6.2 with egcs 2.91.66, gcc ver 2.91.99,
Egcs V 1.1.2.
