PROBLEM: ide ATAPI cdrom failing 2.2.14-12

I am experiencing severe errors with my IDE subsystem. It worked perfectly on
RedHat 6.0, but sometime at RedHat6.1 things started to break. I did not
notice the problem because it seemed somewhat intermmitent and I don't use the
CD much. At 6.2 the error is now solid. I replaced my CDROM with new and same
errors. I added a new HD to the same IDE channel and it works flawlessly. I
then stripped down the system (removed all cards, new HD and reset BIOS) to
verify problem was real.

I have an Acer 50x ATAPI CDROM (I believe LiteOn was OEM), and previous CD-ROM
was LiteON 40x. I have ASUS P5A MB with ALi 15xx IDE onboard controllers.

Thank you and regards,
Fred Farleigh
