ethernet interface initialization

Hi,
   I wanted to look at the source code of the ethernet
interface initialization. I am interested in looking
at how dev_addr field (i.e the MAC address is filled
up) for my school project.

I have a 3COm 3C59x ethernet card.

Its built into the kernel & not a module. From the
material I read I came to know that Space.c
initializes the device structure for the interface.
But i could not find the initialization part.

ANY POINTERS....
