Hi all,

I'm trying to boot up RH 6.1 from a off-board(PCI) IDE controller
which has a CMD 648 chpset on it. I recomplied the 2.2.14 kernel
with support for CMD 640|646 only ...

    [*] CMD640 chipset bugfix/support ... and/or
    [*] CMD640 enhanced support

[*] Boot off-board chipsets first support
    [*] CMD646 chipset support (EXPERIMENTAL)

The kernel does not recognizes the hdd :

boot messages :
...........
VP_IDE: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 34
VP_IDE: not 100% native, will probe IRQ's later
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xC000-0xC007
request_mod[block-major-3]:root_fs not mounted
Cannot open root dev 03:07
kernel panic: unable to mount root fson 03:07
<hang>
..........

I do not know what to do next.
Are there any patches needed specially for this chipset ??

TIA,

C-ya,
Cristian POP
