2.4.0test1-ac10: network connection lost

I loose my network connection during webserving:

* apache 1.3.12
* serve one static file, 125 bytes long: around 500-800 hits/sec,
default httpd.conf
* ne2k-pci network card, 10 MBit BNC
* Dual-PII/350
* BX chipset
* RedHat 6.2, but gcc-2.95.3-20000517
* no problems with flood ping
* same kernel (bzImage copied), same network card, but K6/200
uniprocessor, apache 1.3.9: no problems.
* no special patches

"init 1;init 3" doesn't restore the connection.

The problem is reproducable, the connection is lost after a few seconds.
