Huh, I had exact the same errors when I forgot to enable xmon.
But you can try the sources from here:
http://www.fsmlabs.com/linuxppcbk.html
He is right now on 2.4.0-test1-ac7 AND especially with all the ppc hacks
not right included in the vanilla.
It builds and boots on wallstreet with enabled xmon.
