Seems like a special case workaround to me.
With everybody having the root password anyway,
consider logging on as root to run the scripts,
or have a SUID copy of the shell binary
for these scripts. Then change the first line of
each script to use this special shell.
Sure - there's *no* security whatsoever, but that
doesn't seem to be a problem in
your case anyway.
