Killing cli() however is a huge win and wants doing

Add:

Support for processors with 4 level page tables
Support for page table discard (ala NetBSD) for non anonymous pages.
Fine grain locking on the serial layer
64bit file locking

Maybe ext2 acls, file system level capability data
