Hello,

I'd say that performance is quite impressive with this patch!!

I'm not sure yet if it is better than pre9, because I haven't done any
real benchmarks ...

But I can say the following about my experiences with this patch
applied:

* General smooth operation, although the cursor in X is slightly
jumpish from time to time under swap load

* I can compile KDE2, edit text files and play MP3 files all the same
time with only minor distortions in the music.

* MP3 playback is distorted a little bit when I switch applications
(alt-tab from editor to shell, or to file manager etc) or when the
compilation in the background does some major operations.
At the same time, the mouse is also jittery.

When switching applications, a lot of swapping does of course occur.
When dragging windows around, the same happens because the applications
which have their windows exposed will want to do a redraw.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to provide for even smoother
operation during such swap intensive periods?

I think I will soon compare the performance of this patch against the
performance of the classzone-patch...

Overall, I'd say that performance is great!

A very good job, Rik!
