Both. I'm busy tuning stuff more and gathering good code from
tried-and-tested patches that have been floating around for a
few months now.

In the meantime, I very much appreciate reports like this, so
I have an idea what works and what doesn't. (yes, I try the
patches here under different workloads on different machines,
but I'm pretty sure there must be people out there with very
different workloads and machines that give test results nobody
expected)
