2.4.0-ac7 locks on heavy ide UDMA load

System:

Athlon 650, ABit KA7 Mainboard, 3 HPT366 controller, 4 IBM-DTLA-307045
drives as hd[e-i,m], 1 FUJITSU MPF3204AT:

drive

May 31 21:09:15 obelix kernel: hdm: IBM-DTLA-307045, ATA DISK drive

May 31 21:09:15 obelix kernel: ide6 at 0xd400-0xd407,0xd802 on irq 10

All drives run in UDMA mode2 (If the IBM disk are in mode 4 as is the
default, the system is even more unstable)

The machine locks (Alt SysRq works but nothing else) when copying much data
from the hde-i RAID-0 to /hda

When I only use /dev/hda, the system is rather stable (kernel compiling etc
works)

Plug-and-Play is really nice, unfortunately it only works 50% of the time.
To be specific the "Plug" almost always works. --unknown source
