Re: is aic7xxx broken in 2.4.0-test1-ac5?

From: Harm Verhagen (h.verhagen@chello.nl)
Date: Tue May 30 2000 - 20:28:46 EST

Hi folks,

I'm seeing the problems with aic7xxx too.
Here are my details. I hope it is of any help.
Let me know if you need more details.

Kind regards,
Harm Verhagen

[1.] One line summary of the problem:
     2.4.0-test1-ac5 hangs when using aic7xxx

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
I tried to boot 2.4.0-test-ac5 and it hung with the message below.
If I boot 2.4.0-test1-ac5 into single user mode it boots ok. If I
do
modprobe aic7xxx the system hangs. ctrl-alt-del makes system
reboot.
     It worked fine with 2.3.99, 2.4.0-test1, 2.4.0-test1-ac4

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
     kernel, hang, scsi, aic7xxx

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
Linux version 2.4.0-test1-ac5 (root@leia.verhagen) (gcc version
egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #11 Tue May 30
23:29:38 GMT+1 2000

[5.] Output of Oops.. message with symbolic information resolved
(see Kernel Mailing List FAQ, Section 1.5):
/var/log/messages output
error message is on bottom of this (extended :) ) list.
