Hmmm. I couldn't get a P-III to fit into my BP6, however hard I hammered
it :)

However, I do also see NMI lockups on the BP6, generally associated with USB
activity. Is it likely that the two are related?

I don't see many APIC errors, though, and I do see NMI lockups without them
- reliably if I try to play USB audio in 2.3.99-pre8
