Debugging a device driver

Hello,

I'm currently trying to debug a device driver that I'm writing for a
special purpose application.

I have a problem whereby my driver freezes my system. (2.2.14 kernel)

Reading the section on debugging techniques in Rubini's device drivers
book, I was prompted to see if Shift-Printscreen would elicit any
response.

It didn't so, just to check, I booted fresh and tried to see what would
be the result of Shift-Printscreen.

Still no result even though the system is running fine. (My driver is
not loaded.)

I checked klogd and then halted it and restarted it with "klogd -c 5"
but there was still no response to Shift-Printscreen. (Or CTRL-P or
RightAlt-P)

Is this function still there in the 2.2.14 kernel? If so, how to I turn
it on?

Many thanks in advance.
