via82cxxx_audio 1.1.6 problems

I have an Asus K7M with onboard Via audio. The via sound driver
detects the chip, but doesn't produce any sound when i try to play
things.

i also get the following oops when trying to modprobe -r
via82cxxx_audio in 2.3.99-pre9:
