I've also seen this strange behaviour with all my EEPro100's and my SMC
1024 10/100 switch. I put support requests into both Intel and SMC and
received no response from either. The tx light stays on no matter what
OS the machine is running, so I don't believe it's related to the
driver, but rather a link-layer issue between the EEPro and a few brands
of networking hardware.
