problem with smbclient and 2.3.99-pre9-3

I get the following error when using 2.3.99-pre9-3, but it works ok
using -2:

     mount error: Bad address
Please refer to the smbmnt(8) manual page
     smbmnt failed: 255
     mount.smbfs: ioctl failed, res=-1
Could not umount /w: Invalid argument

It appears to be in the kernel proper instead of any modules, as the
installation of modules simply write over the previous ones (in the
-pre9 subdirectory).

Along those lines, it might be useful to breakout the testing kernels
to separate directories in /lib/modules, as we do for the -pre series
too, thus relieving the need to recompile the previous patch again to
get the previous modules.

Additionally, as I was writing this, using -2, I got the following in
the syslog:

May 21 16:29:38 localhost fetchmail[530]: 1 message for weh at localhost (7267 octets).
     May 21 16:29:38 localhost sendmail[582]: QAA00582: from=<owner-linux-kernel@vger.rutgers.edu>, size=7143, class=-60, pri=145143, nrcpts=1, msgid=<20000521152338.A2740@alcove.wittsend.com>, proto=ESMTP, relay=localhost [127.0.0.1]

     May 21 16:29:39 localhost sendmail[583]: QAA00582: to=<root@localhost>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=local, stat=Sent
May 21 16:29:39 localhost kernel: kernel BUG at /usr/src/linux/include/linux/mm.h:320!
May 21 16:29:39 localhost kernel: invalid operand: 0000
     May 21 16:29:39 localhost kernel: CPU: 0
     May 21 16:29:39 localhost sendmail[588]: QAA00586: to=weh, ctladdr=root (0/0), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, stat=Sent

It's in the middle of a sendmail process, though that may be irrelevant.
