Access to eject button press on CDROM and ZIP

Hello all,
I try to refrain from posting as much as possible, but I have exhausted my
other outlets. I need a way to detect when a user has pressed the eject
button on both a CDROM, and an internal IDE ZIP drive. I have searched all
through user space documentation and forums to no avail. Does anybody know
of something in the kernel to allow for this that I can access?

This is for a college senior design project so I would appreciate any help
anybody can provide. Please copy me on any relavant posts.

Thanks.
