X still fails with 2.3.99-pre4-4

I've been unable to get XFree86 4.0 to work with kernels 2.3.99-pre4-3
and 2.3.99-pre4-4. Everything else seems to work fine. Using gcc-2.95.2,
on a AMD K6-2 400, Asus P5A.
