2.3.99-pre3 oops running netscape

I got the following oops when trying to download a file via
netscap(navigator, not communicator) v4.7. I am running a debian
potato, recently upgraded.

# uname -a
Linux **** 2.3.99-pre3 #1 SMP Sun Mar 26 22:44:50 PST 2000 i686 unknown

Access to /proc seems to be a problem, as all attempts to use `ps`
or `top` are spinning unkillably. I'm rebooting after I send this.

# ksymoops < oops
ksymoops 2.3.3 on i686 2.3.99-pre3. Options used
     -V (default)
     -k /proc/ksyms (default)
     -l /proc/modules (default)
     -o /lib/modules/2.3.99-pre3/ (default)
     -m /boot/System.map-2.3.99-pre3 (default)

Warning: You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will
assume that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running
right now and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.
