The ones I've seen haven't been to pretty - basically they do something
like

audiofs_read()
{
        mm_segment_t old_fs = get_fs();

        set_fs(KERNEL_DS);
        sys_ioctl(fd, CDROMREADAUDIO, cdrom_read_audio_buf);
        set_fs(old_fs);
        ...
}

and stuff like that. It would be hard to pass that data in the
buffer cache... Besides, why do we need one?
