I do not know if this will help you, but have
the same card also, and running linux 2.3.99-pre1 fine
with it, it saw it, and all the disks on it.

now, I have 2 disk on it:

hdg: Maxtor 93652U8, ATA DISK drive
hdh: Maxtor 93652U8, ATA DISK drive
