unersolved symbols during insmod

HI!

I am writing a block "driver module" in linux... While compiliing the
module, do I have to use any switches with "cc"?

I am getting "unresolved symbols" errors when I try to "insmod" my driver...
The symbols (functions) are defined as extern in <asm/bitops.h>...
