weird /dev/ behaviour on NFS

While I guess this might have been fixed in 2.2.14 (this is only 2.2.12),
I find it weird:

# while true; do sleep 1; ls -l `tty`; done
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Oct 2 10:32 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Oct 2 10:32 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Oct 2 10:32 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Oct 2 10:32 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Feb 23 13:02 /dev/tty1
crw------- 1 root tty 4, 1 Oct 2 10:32 /dev/tty1

The Feb dates are correct, the Oct dates are wrong. cycle == 1 time
incorrect, 2 times incorrect.

I have had other people report similar problems. It means that the
idle time doesn't show up correctly. w says 11 days idle. 11 days
since Oct?????
