        Either manually change "back_merges_fn" to "back_merge_fn" or
patch with any of the 2.3.47 patches; they include this fix.

        Nothing; it was a typo in the release. You might want to take a
few minutes looking through the kernel mailing list archives before
posting, however, this one has been covered in previous posts.
