We are unable to get our tape drive working.

System information is attached below.

Attempting to write to the device gives errors like this:

        hdc : bad access: block=0, count=32
        ide-tape: ht0: I/O error, pc = 1e, key = 5, asc = 20, ascq = 0

# mt -f /dev/ht0 retension gives:

        ide-tape: ht0: I/O error, pc = 1e, key = 5, asc = 20, ascq = 0
