 Hello,

Got that yesterday, on this system:
[root@localhost gujin]# dmesg
Linux version 2.2.5-22 (root@porky.devel.redhat.com) (gcc version
egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #1 Wed Jun 2 09:02:27 EDT
1999
Detected 120277895 Hz processor.
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25
Calibrating delay loop... 48.03 BogoMIPS
Memory: 46920k/49152k available (996k kernel code, 412k reserved, 764k data,
60k init)

After a 30 minutes loop like:
for cpt = 1 .. 50
  make dep
  make all option=cpt
  make clean
  endfor > log

Nearly everything is in memory (few disk access):

The system was still running after that.

Because it a too modified (even if it is the base Mandrake/RH) and
too old kernel - and because it is EGCS - I will not search more what
happend - (It could even be the RAM, but the system is stable for
3 month now) - but I can give more info if needed.

  Etienne.
