Ok, now I have. It's got alot less in swap (see below). But it has only been
up for 6 hours, so it should grow. The numbers above was after a week or so.
Regarding the feel of it, it doesn't seem any bether to me.
Maybe even slightly worse, but it's hard to tell for sure. I guess it's true:
the box is just trying to do too much in too litle memory. So using it as a
desktop isn't fun anymore.

I see things like this very often:
 0 500 1127 1 1 0 21964 13736 wait_on_buf D 1 0:49 /usr/lib/netscape/netscape-communicator
40 558 619 507 2 0 4476 2228 wait_on_pag D ? 10:23 /opt/linpro/logbox/bin/postgres localhost logbox logbox SELECT

which 5 second later is:

 0 500 1127 1 0 0 21672 13456 wait_on_pag D 1 0:50 /usr/lib/netscape/netscape-communicator
40 558 619 507 0 0 4476 2228 wait_on_buf D ? 10:27 /opt/linpro/logbox/bin/postgres localhost logbox logbox SELECT

and a minute or so later:
 40 0 3 1 0 0 0 0 wait_on_buf DW ? 0:00 (kupdate)
140 559 663 364 0 0 1880 1144 wait_on_buf D ? 0:17 smbd -D
 40 558 619 507 2 0 4476 2228 wait_on_pag D ? 10:49 /opt/linpro/logbox/bin/postgres localhost logbox logbox SELECT

(randomly picked ps outputs)

Here's procinfo at the moment:
