2.2.14 OOPS: Unable to handle kernel paging request

From: Kevin O'Connor (koconnor@cse.Buffalo.EDU)
Date: Wed Jan 19 2000 - 22:43:48 EST

[1.] One line summary of the problem:

Kernel oops in 2.2.14.

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

I was running X/Netscape on the machine. Netscape (in its usual way)
proceeded to eat up a significant amount of memory; then it hung. I was
unable to kill the process via kill -9. After looking through
/var/log/messages I noticed the Oops. Unfortunately I rebooted the machine
before running ksymoops. However, the system is modified to never unload a
module and the boot process was the same - so it should be stable.

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):

Linux version 2.2.14 (kevin@delaware) (gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #6 Wed Jan 12 21:20:08 EST 2000

[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information
     resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)

Warning (compare_ksyms_lsmod): module nfs is in lsmod but not in ksyms, probably no symbols exported
