An old problem: PING packet size...

Hi all,

I remember sometime ago that the problem was put on this list. It was
about odd/even packest size of ping in RH 6.
I have now the same problem: ping with even packet size works, ping
with odd paket size don't :(.
The difference is that I have a hand crafted glibc-2 instalation based
on Enoch Linux http://enoch.masslinux.com/, with glibc-2.1.1 compiled
with pgcc-1.1.1 and the rest with egcs-1.1.2 ( I replaced the pgcc
compiler).
I also tried to recompile netkit-0.10, the latest I can find, obtaining
the same results :(
Now please, a knowlegeable one enlighten me, what to do:

- recompile glibc-2.1.1 with egcs.
- drop egcs and revert to gcc-2.7.2.3 for C compiler
- patch ping (how?)
- what else except moving to RH ;)

Thank you,

Mircea C.
