To increase security on of my machines I edited the /etc/securetty to
allow root login only form tty1 to tty6. This way I made me and my cosysop
to login as particular users and to say "su" when needed. This obviously
was a good idea because I stopped doing things as root, which I could do
with user privileges.
The problem came when the root password expired. Now when I type "su" it
denies the password and in the "/logs/syslog" is added a messeg "root
password expired.". So now I'm unable to gain root and the machine is
remote. If you don't help me this night (we are GMT-2) I have to go to the
machine on the morning.
Is there any idea of how to gain root access?
Thank you very much in advance.
