Do you wish to just connect to your ISP using PPP? Which distribution are
you using? Have you tried `minicom', which is just a simple terminal
emulator, and allows you to talk directly to your modem? Even the default
configuration of your modem should be sufficent to make outgoing calls.
Describe more of what you have already done, and what has failed.
Most (all?) distributions now have automagic ways of configuring your
modem for outgoing connections...
