Do you have in.pop3d installed? sendmail is the SMTP server (25/tcp)
and is not the pop3 (110/tcp) server. Maybe sendmail.mc is not
the place to look.

IANA (www.iana.org) is the entity that defines "numbers" in internet,
but generally cat /etc/sevices is enough.
