Hi Linux fellows,
Ive read that unlike dip, pppd doesnt have its own scriptin' language
for dialing and that it uses chat for that purpose..I get it. But what s
not clear are the following:
Quest I) When I dial to my Isp, what s the difference between sending a
command mentionning pppd such as :
pppd connect /dev/cua3 38400 ..etc
versus a command using chat such as:
chat -v ' ' ATZ OK ATDTXXX....etc ???

2) When usin the pppd command line
pppd connect /dev/cua3 38400 ..etc, I guess that all it does is loading
on the pppd daemon and opening my modem port to negociate the ppp
connection. And what s next ?? Do I need to run chat -v...etc..just
after pppd connect /dev/cua3 38400 ..etc ????
3) In number 2, I asked if I should run chat -v xxx just after runnin
pppd connect xxxx.
This time, I wanna know : if I run chat -v xxxxx, first..what is next
step?? I guess that it s surely not pppd connect /dev/cua3 38400 ..etc
??

I d appreciate if you could clarify that..
