Hi Carl
yes - this segment is only about 25 metres in total. It rings around our main
server vault for the front end of some of our backup systems.
We've been having some aweful problems with that segment, but i suspect its due
to ascend max gear.
However, we ran a network management probe off it for a while and several of
the boxes (linux) were just constantly passing reverse arp requests back and
forth - it also, according to tcpdump, was the same request over and over again
even after the arp entry was "learnt".
the main box doing this is a linux based terminal server running about 80
modems.
