Yes, i have a similar setup (more machines) and i run the cable
modem through the hub. Just make sure you plug the modem in the hub's
uplink port or buy/make a crossover cable and use that. Now, for this you
will need to setup ipaliasing so that eth0 has two ips, the localnet and
the cable modem. This is well explained in the ipaliasing mini-howto.
