Can you look in the logfile (/usr/spool/uucp/.Log/uucico/MACHINE, or
/usr/spool/uucp/Log depending on your configuration) and see if you
have a lot of retries ? If yes, check that you have hardware flow
control in setserial, and that your UART is 16550A or better.
Other possibility for slow transfers is the use of an old UUCP
protocol. You should use `i', and if not available, 'g', with
a big window.
