dns caching

I have dns caching set up on my machine...works GREAT..

Is there a way to limit the number of entries it caches (or the size of the
cache)...or is there a way to set an expiration date on the cached entry?

the HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO doesn't explicitly say...and i do not want to mess it
up by adding an entry that may stop it from working...

using IP masquerading basically REQUIRES a local DNS cache when working
over a 28.8/33.6 link to make it bearable...

BUT it is worth it.
