Is there any reason why getsockname() does this ip_my_addr() thing
at all?

I think this is transparent proxy stuff. I could be wrong. rcv_saddr
and saddr seem to be used to differentiate between where a packet is
actually sent, and what logical local address the other end has been
sees this connection as having.
