On 12-Jan-97 Jason Gauthier blabbed on about :
->
->I just got a 10mb/s ethernet card, NE2000 clone, on a PCI bus, and here's
->the issue I'm trying to deal with. I've a BNC network at home, and the
->card is one of those stupid "plug and play" well, it's configuring itself
->to use the RJ45 connector. I think. There are no DOS utilities for it to
->configure it... any idea what i can do to change it, or make the driver
->use the other port??
->Any help appreciated.

You could have the card get configured at boot similar to how I did my
LinkSYS PCI ehternet card with dec 21040 chip.

My case was the card was triggering the RJ45 or AUI ports at boot.
I went into the source, and changed it so that the BNC port gets
fired up.

you will need to look in the /usr/src/linux/drivers/net directory.
Check the file ne.c, somewhere in it there will be some code
that inits the card to Rj45, changing this and recompiling the
kernel should do it.

hope this helps.
