While not having compiled it personally, as far as I remember HNMS
requires the ISODE SNMP libraries in order to compile (and run!). The
ISODE libs themselves have patches for allowing the SNMP support to
compile on Linux (use /proc/net/snmp instead of mbuf's), and there
could be other issues as well (I'm in the process of patching ISODE-8
to compile on Linux as I write this).

And doesn't HNMS require Motif?

All this said, I'd be glad to join in any project to get HNMS working
on Linux.
