DNS does NOT work under a specific domain. It does nameservice for all
domains. The closest thing to "setting" a domain name for DNS is in the
named.boot file, where it is told what file to use for which domain.

primary cyclades.com named.cyclades

tells named to use the info in "named.cyclades" for looking up info for
the "cyclades.com" domain.

There are two reasons that I can think of why named is not responding.

1. You are not set up to use that machine for your nslookup;
2. There is an error in one of the config files that causes named to
reject the file. Turn on debugging and check the logs.
