I have two questions, I hope someone out there, with more experience in
Linux networking than me, will answer:
1) Would it be possible to set up a Linux box with say three
network adapters, and make it bridge between the two of them, while
routing between those two and the third ?
It will be used for a college WAN. We would like bridning between two
buildings (allowing all protocols - for gamers etc.), and TCP/IP routing
to another college:
(Building1) -----
|
(Bridge/Router) ----- (Router at Other college)
|
(Building2) -----
2) Would it be possible to have one 133MHz Pentium routing and bridging
(as apropriate) between four 100Mbps PCI network adapters?
If not: what hardware would it require ?
If so: Which network adapters would be recommended ?
Can anyone tell me what an approximate CPU load would be, having say 50%
load on all four cards ?
(The machine we are talking about, is currently routing between two 10Mbps
cards, and running web, mail and DNS for our campus as well. Average CPU
load: near 0%)
I hope someone can answer part or whole of the above.
Thanks in advance!
