Do you mean that it is defined as one of the addresses for local use that
you can assign yourself? I believe it needs to be one of a specific range
to work that way, and a machine configured like that should never, not
even sometimes, be connected to the internet. At least that is what I
remember from the PPP FAQ, I think. Mayby the SLIP faq.
