I noticed this on Linux 1.2.12 + sdummy, the machine hung completely
whenever I started 'rusers' or 'nmbd' (the Samba netbios name server).
I was able to track down the problem by debugging nmbd and found that
the culprit was a network-directed UDP broadcast (a sendto() to the
address 194.51.107.255 on this particular computer).
The solution I found was to add '-broadcast' to each 'ifconfig dummyX'
call. I can't tell if this probleme is still present in recent 1.3 kernel
with IP aliasing, I'm too lazy to test it :) Maybe someone should test that.

Farzad
