As far as using the Linux CD's I can only state with experience about the Info Magic releases but I assume all the current ones would have a similar capability. If you can access the CD from any OS, DOS, Linux, Windows 95.
you will be able to read the CD and it will have on it the necessary utilities to setup and configure Linux for your system as long as you have one of the supported drives. They will usually a bootable version of linux that will work for a supported drive/controller combination. I have installed Linux from Dos using a multimedia kit for DOS and the Infomagic Linux disc set.
