These messages will /not/ arise simply by compiling Samba. You would
also have to install it (and you should definitely /not/ do this on a
RedHat box with the 'net version of Samba; use the SRPM if you want to
build Samba itself from source).

I don't know (it doesn't exist in other distros, or in older versions
of RedHat). Use rpm to determine the package from which it came, then
read the documentation (in /usr/doc) for that package.
