rhnsd error

hello,
I have a RH7 linux box. After I recompiled Samba with
nss_wins (nss_wins have nothing to do with this)
I receive error messages from rhnsd in the message
file:

Jan 18 08:10:47 deltacom rhnsd[3548]: running program
/usr/sbin/rhn_check
Jan 18 08:10:50 deltacom rhnsd[804]: command returned:
ERROR: unable to read system id.

In /etc/samba directory I have the MACHINE.SID and in
/usr/local/samba/lib another MACHINE.SID that I
renamed it. Both these files are different. The first
is older than the second one.
So in /usr/local/samba/lib/ I made symlinks to
/etc/samba/smb.conf, lmhosts and MACHINE.SID files.

Please can someone tell me about what rhnsd do (I
didn't find any man or info).
TIA
