Quick question. I have a network setup here that looks something like
this:
171.22.1.0 Linux machine 192.168.1.0
Host1 ----------hub1------- behaving -------hub2----- Host2 (.1.10)
as router
Now, Host1 encapsulates packets IPIP and sends it to 192.168.1.10 address.
For some reason, Linux machine doesn't forward these encapsulated packets
through. "Regular" (non-encapsulated) packets to 192.168.1.10 pass
through Linux router fine. Interesting thing is that tcpdump on Linux
machine never sees these packets. The packets are sent from Host1 for
sure (check by another machine snooping at hub 1) but Linux's tcpdump
doesn't see it. Furthermore, ifconfig doesn't report any errored
packets.
Anyway, the question is (not very smart one, I admit): Is there any
default (implicit) rule which would disable forwarding of IPIP packets in
Linux?
