If you were to type, in a web browser, "www.hotmail.com" what happens?

Nothing?

As little as I use hotmail, for me, every time I type "www.hotmail.com"
it resolves to, and the browser address bar returns:

"http://lc2.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login"

This should be considered normal. Some variation on
lc*.law*.hotmail.passport.com that is...

Is nothing at all happening?

What happens if you type "lc1.law5.hotmail.passport.com" as you state,
below?

Nothing?

Do you get an "..unable to locate the server.." error?

For me, nslookup returns 207.46.198.16 for passport.com.
